What to sell Wednesday: Vintage Little Tikes Dollhouse Furniture

The facebook page has been abuzz this week and I noticed some people have been talking about selling vintage Little Tikes Dollhouse furniture, so I thought we would take a few minutes to discuss it!  This furniture dates back to the 80's and is no longer made today, which makes it a hot commodity!  Even the Grandma and Grandpa are hot!  Or you can get serious and sell the people separately from the furniture, too.

One thing I would caution against is trying to sell the big huge blue roof dollhouse that goes with this set on ebay.  I have done it and the past, and I still regret it!  It's a huge pain in the neck to ship, and you won't make that much more money than splitting up the accessories and people.

I would, however, suggest buying the Grandma's cottage and Horse Stable and truck/trailer that goes with the Little Tikes Dollhouse.  They are easier to ship and worth trouble.

  1. These are adorable! What kind of sales do you typically find vintage toys at? I usually seem to go to sales of relatively young families who are just outgrowing their clothes/toys. I never find anything vintage. Do you go to estate sales, or older neighborhoods to find vintage stuff?

  2. I totally need to clean out my mom's garage...pretty sure I have that stable from my childhood in there. She insisted on saving everything from my childhood and now I'm glad she did. Thanks for the tip!

  3. Great tip Jen. I have done well with the cozy coup in the past. I think it's cute and it's a good seller as you can pick it up cheap.

  4. I kick myself for not buying this when I saw it. They was asking $25 for this and the house. Darn I wish I would have bought it now. It had all these pieces plus more with it. Oh well I guess you learn from your mistakes. I know now to get brave and buy.

  5. Oh my!!! These are totally adorable, I'll have to keep a look out. I'm glad you mainly focus on girl toys (since I have a boy there isn't much we'd keep for him)!

  6. Hello:
I really enjoy reading your blog, and have been inspired to consider ebaying once again. However, I am very put off by the high fees ebay charges. My son just sold something for a total (including shipping) of $19.99. Ebay took 9% of this total, and Paypal took another 9%. Once my son paid the actual shipping charges, he was left with $10.16. This doesn't seem right to me. Is this your experience? How do you make enough money to make yard-saling/ebaying profitable, considering your own time investment and gas? Is this something you have already addressed in a previous post?

  7. Ugh, I'm pretty sure I passed some of these things up at Goodwill a couple weeks ago. I wish there was a app where you could just take a picture of the product and it would automatically tell you everything about it and show what it's worth. Is that too much to ask? Can't some people at MIT get on that?

  8. I went to a thrift shop to look at toys today and wished for the same magic app, Maggie! I saw a couple of cute doll house things but didn't know what they were so I passed on them. I did get some Junie B. Jones and Captain Underpants books for 30 cents each, though.

  9. I picked up the little coupe car, vacuum cleaner and baby for a dollar and sold them all for $12, an easy/breezy sale. Definitely got to keep looking for them! Especially those houses..wow!

  10. Hi Lisa!
It's true, the fees are high. But I look at it as being cheaper than having a brick n' mortar store, and without ebay, I would have no extra spending money! I know ebay's fees are 9%, but my paypal fees are not that high. With ebay, I try to ONLY BUY THINGS that are going to bring me a substantial profit to make it worth my time. I don't buy many sell for $10 items. That's the only sure way to guarantee it's worth your time and effort.

Ya'll are funny talking about an app!! My husband and I were just saying the same thing!

  11. I just bought the vintage blue roof house at a yard sale with accessories for 10.00. I had no idea what I was buying, just knew my 3yr old was going to love it, and she does.
