Insider Secret: Sell This!

Got Boy Pollys?  Yep, that's right.  I love me some boy pollys.  This is an actual photo from one of my past listings.  I can sell boy pollys like this for $20-$30.  You don't even need four of them--2 will do!  Polly pockets are something you always see at yard sales...I'm always digging to see if there are some boys in there!

Need proof?

Yard Sale Mommy reader, please take this mental note:  making big money does not mean shipping big toys.

What would be a good title for these?  I always think, "What would a mom search for if she wanted some boy pollys?"
POLLY POCKET DOLL CLOTHES LOT BOY MAN GUY GROOM

Anyone got a few of these?

Do you have a nugget to share with us today?  If not, do you like little selling nuggets like these?  If I can hear from 10 of you I'll share another!

  1. I love these "nuggets" because I have three boys and it's very interesting to me to see what sells from the mother of girls perspective. I am unfamiliar with a lot of these toys but do come across many of them at yard sales and thrift shops, so it's good to be aware - knowledge is power! Thanks again :)

  3. I have been looking for Pollys but haven't found any yet! I know there are some old ones of mine in my Grandma's attic but I havent gotten over there to check out that situation yet!

Question: I saw some Heroscapes sets in a bin for $20 this weekend and passed them up, should I have bought them? I didnt know if they were complete and they were all mixed together. Im totally lost when it comes to boy toys!!

    Thanks!!!

  4. I love this tip! I'm so jealous of all of your finds - I rarely find a yard sale with toys in my area. Just really old junk :). I'd love to hear another nugget!

  5. I mostly list clothes and it's no secret that name brands sell best. Thanks for your tips! I'm thinking about trying different things so this helps with what to look for. Thanks!

  7. I LOVE you blog! I have been trying to figure out how to sell on ebay and be successful for awhile. Your blog has helped me so much. With your tips, I had some successes on ebay this past weekend. I bought a Littlest Pet Shop lot for $3 and sold it for $31. Thanks! Can't wait to her more!

  9. This comment shouldn't count toward the 10, but I have a question: This past week Target and K-Mart have had a lot of toys on sale for 75% off. For example, I was able to buy the Loving Family Family Manor for $7.48 (normally between $40-$50) and some Thomas Trackmaster sets for under $10! Do you recommend buying toys new at these prices, then holding on to resell them at Christmas, or do you believe that it's a better profit to buy them used for a little less and sell them whenever? I intend to hold all of the toys I bought until late October/early November then begin listing them, but was wondering your opinion of buying new toys at deep discounts for resale.

  11. I am also loving these "little nuggets". I listed a couple things we happened to have around our house to get started and was out at a garage sale when I picked up some old imaginext (2001 for $2 for a whole garbage bag full) and a large bucket of polly pockets ($1). I wouldn't have looked at this stuff twice if it wasn't for your blog. I also picked up 6 like new Kelly dolls (with accessories) that I am hoping to list closer to the holidays. I love your blog.

  12. I've been shopping at yard sales for years, but I'm new to reselling on Ebay. Thanks so much for sharing your expertise! I'll be on the lookout for boy Polly Pockets now, along with everything else you've suggested. Love your blog!

  13. Cartridges and books from Story Time Theater projectors! I bought the projector and a Dora book/cartridge and a Nemo book/cartridge and posted them as a lot, but NO interest. Then I just posted the books separately and people WANT these.

  15. Okay, another post will be up later!

Carrie, I think you did AWESOME with your Target purchases and YES, you will be able to sell most of them for close to full price. I was able to buy a few things to resell as well, though I didn't get there until late so there wasn't much left. Sure things like Loving Family and Thomas--you can't go wrong. You may even be able to sell them now, unless the market is flooded with the clearance Target toys. You could always try fixed price listings, and undercut the lowest priced seller by $1 so yours gets purchased first. Good job!

  16. I had never even heard of a polly pocket until I started reading this blog! I have been looking at toys in the thrift stores but I am chicken. I don't want to lose money. They all look the same to me! ;) I am also scared of shipping anything that doesn't fit in a flat rate box. ;) Maybe some day I will get the hang of buying and selling toys, but it feels like a long way off. ~ Christie

  22. I bought a toy! Aagh! Okay, so up above I posted that it was too scary... I went to Target on errands and decided to look in the toy aisle. I found a Disney Mickey Mouse Dance Star at 75% off. Do you think this is a good item or should I return it ?
    Thanks.

  23. Christie, if you check the completed listings you can see what similar toys have sold for in the past. I checked on your toy for you and it looks like you can sell it for $30-$40. You probably can make a nice profit, depending on what you paid.

  24. I paid $20. It is still listed on the Target website for $70+. Do you think it would be best to wait until Christmas ? It might take that long to find a shipping box! :)

  25. I had really good luck selling to boy Polly Pockets. My mom is always finding big bags of Pollys @ garage sales , my daughter plays w/ them for a while then I go thru & sell the boys. Last year I sold a lot of 2 boys w/ outfits & a cat & dog w/ lil shirts . The lot sold for $50. I'm always on the look out for the boy Polly's.
