Let me start by saying if you aren't on vacation right now, I'm sorry. I don't mean to rub it in that I am indeed on vacation. Not that I have taken a break from my usual job as mommy, but that I am here. At the beach.
I am a beach girl. I have heard it said that there are mountain people and there are beach people, and well, I am beach people. And my people are beach people. (One nice thing about North Carolina is that we do get to choose, ya'll. In 2 hours I can be toes in sand or toes hanging over a cliff.)
We are here basking in the Carolina sunshine, and if you have never experienced this, well, put it on your list. Somehow it's just different here in North Carolina's Outer Banks. The air smells sweeter. The water is warmer. The people are friendlier. The flowers are prettier. The kids are happier. The grass is....hate to say it....greener.
It's our annual family gathering, a time when my parents along with myself and my two brothers and their families come together, live together (again) for a week. 1 grandson, born first. 8 granddaughters, born next, almost all in a row.
Needless to say, we have a good time.
There's even an identical set. Double trouble, big time.
And this evening, while we were doing this:
They were doing this:
It gave me a little chuckle. They're not quite ready to be in the pool without their mom.
You may think my family doesn't relate to yard sale-ing, but that's where you are wrong my friends. Guess what my dad and two brothers do for fun? Sell toys on ebay. Yep. That's right. From thrift stores and yard sales. Have I ever told you that anyone can do this?
Enjoy your fourth of July, blogging friends. I hope you'll put up with some more beach pictures this week. I absolutely promise to relate them to yard sale-ing. Until we meet again tomorrow, I'll be here:
In my vacation chair.
