Who can fix a broken heart? Mr. Bell Can't!

This weekend I came across some great 10 cent books.  I should have bought them all, but because we are running out of room, I was a bit more selective.  One book in particular caught my eye.  It was a Golden Book (and you know my love of Golden Books) titled Mr. Bell's Fixit Shop.  You can see  it a little in the very upper right hand of the picture.

The book caught my eye because of the first page.  This is what I found when I opened the front cover:

Something struck a cord with me. Of course Mr. Bell can't fix broken hearts.  Only God can fix broken hearts.  I should know, I've had a couple.  And, although I have been a little more selective lately about which Golden Books get purchased for our collection, I plunked down a dime.  'Cause my girls need to know Mr. Bell can't fix a broken heart.  That's something only God can do.

  1. I was THRILLED to see that book cover in your photo. That was my absolute favorite book as a child. My grandmother had it at her house and she used to read it to me, and I always thought Mr. Bell had the nicest face. Oh, I might cry! I wonder whatever happened to that book. Thanks for the memory. :)

  2. Awww!! I want you to have it! Funny thing is, at the end Mr. Bell does fix a broken heart (right?) and it is a sweet story. So maybe I should have said God (and Mr. Bell) can fix a broken heart. Happy to "bring you back"!

  3. I love that book! I need to make sure it's still in my collection of golden books at my parent's house. Once our family is a little more settled I need to bring my collection home :)
