Once-a-Month Ebay Mommy

Do you ever have days like this?  Days when you feel like something is exploding in your face and you can't get a breath?  That day for me was yesterday.

But today, I can breathe again.

Last night was ebay listing night.  In case you are wondering if I spend my every night up late putting my things up for auction, I'm here to say I don't.  In fact, over the years I've learned something very important:  get it all done at once.

One week a month is all it takes.  Just one week.  I save up everything I have to sell, spend a few naptimes snapping pictures of everything Monday and Tuesday, spend a couple more naptimes making the listings, and then on listing night my husband gives the girls a bath and puts them to bed for me (sometimes even brings dinner home) and I spend the evening getting everything put up to auction.  Now I can relax until next Wednesday night when I have to ship everything!

Remember Mr. Shrunken Head "fun for the whole family" craft?  Listed.
And every single Barbie Dancing Princess ever made?  Listed.
Spike the practically life-sized dinosaur?  Listed.
Free loving family dollhouse and accessories?  Listed.

Now the fun part begins!  Watching the auctions go is always the best part of the whole ebay experience.  I began ebaying way back when my big girls were little babies.  Getting up to nurse them in the middle of the night was so much easier when I had auctions to watch to keep me company!

You don't have to be an every day ebay mommy to make money.  Just a once a month ebay mommy is all it takes.

  1. I love your blog and have so enjoyed reading back through your older posts!

It made me laugh because I totally BID ON your train set!! Not only that, but I even commented to my husband that when it's our time to sell off our sons outgrown track we need to photograph it with the track all put together because it looks so much better!
    {I didn't win your auction, the bid got too high!}

  2. That is too funny! I'm sorry you didn't win! I bet if you yard sale a bit this summer or fall you will find a ton of that stuff!

  3. I love the idea of ebaying just once a month! I also yard sale and then ebay my goodies, but it can get a bit overwhelming at times. Maybe if I tried it once a month it would be a bit better. Love your site....you are an inspiration:)

  4. I LOVE this idea. I was feeling a little overwhelmed to start the whole ebay selling thing but this makes it sound completely doable. Now we just need to find a house to rent, finishing packing and move...then I can start going to yard sales again :)

  6. This is a very encouraging post. I just looked at a lot of the trendy brands and still stylish clothes I have in my garage sale pile and I now think, "I can do better." I'm going to give ebay a try. Thanks for the inspiration and tips.

  7. I have spent the last 4 years at yard sales every weekend - I have gotten sweet deals, but never seen the Thomas stuff or Lego! Not a big deal, we don't technically need it, but if I find it cheap enough on ebay I do buy it since it's easy to resell for more money later on :)

  10. Off to a multi-family sale tomorrow and hoping to find some treasures! My sons and I hit our *FIRST* yard sale ever, last weekend and walked away with 7 pieces of name-brand, awesome condition clothing, a pair of like-new Stride Rites, a pair of like-new Nikes, a pair of good condition Crocs, a Pass-The-Pickle game (a bribe for my 13 year-old for watching my little one!), and a Disney Store Mickey Mouse costume, like new, all for $7! I was really happy - thanks for the inspiration :)

  12. Thank you for this blog! I'm hoping to do the same as you to bring in a little money. I will definitely take this advice and do it once a month! I was feeling a little overwhelmed doing it every week, now i know thanks to you :).
